What are we gathering?

If we were ants we would gather food, building material, and Doritos which are food and building material. 

Throughout the day our hearts are gathering. The question is, “What are we gathering?”

Jesus said, “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” (Luke 6:45 NIV)

We end up giving to people, what we have gathered in our hearts. No wonder the Bible says to guard our hearts. If we gather fear and stress, we give thoughts and actions motivated by fear and stress. If we gather Jesus’ wisdom, teachings, grace, and love, we will have his good things to give others.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable---if anything is excellent or praiseworthy---think about such things. (Philippians 4:8 NIV)

Let’s be good at gathering good things, so we have good things to give. Some examples of praiseworthy things.
