Money & God

Timothy was told to command the rich to be rich in good deeds.

After getting rich, rapper Pitbull (Mr. Worldwide) said to a friend, “It’s true what they say, ‘Money can’t buy you happiness’".
His friend said, “Yes it can. But you have to give it away.”

When I first started preaching, I said in a sermon, “Money is the root of all evil.” Immediately, after the sermon, a lady possessed by an accuracy demon approached flailing her eyebrows; “It’s not money, but the LOVE of money which is the root of all evil.”

She was right. Money isn’t the problem; it’s allowing our hearts to love money and make money our master.

When Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” he wasn’t saying money and God don’t mix; he was saying the one we choose to be master will influence the other.

If money is our master, it will effect how we spend our time with God. If God is our master, He will effect how we spend our money.
